‘X-Men ’97’ proved to be an unforeseen success for Marvel Studios. After a string of disappointments in 2023, the studio was in desperate need of something to rekindle faith in the franchise amidst a slew of lackluster narratives.

Enter ‘X-Men ’97,’ a revival of the beloved ‘X-Men: The Animated Series.’ Fans were pleasantly astonished when the showrunners successfully honored the essence of the original series while infusing it with fresh, modern elements.

The inaugural season of the series concluded on a high, tantalizing viewers with a plethora of exciting possibilities, including yet another dive into multiversal complexities. Director Jake Castorena delved into a range of topics, from the introduction of Black Panther in Season 2 to the intricacies of timelines, in his recent interview with Phase Zero.

Black Panther is definitely closed doors conversations that I wasn’t privy that was definitely on Beau and in the executives realm. But for us, you know there’s always multiple timelines, there’s always a one off.

Who is to say what timeline is the right timeline, proper timeline. I mean, Ya’ll aren’t even ready for how we’re going f*** you up in season 2. We teased it at the end of 10, we’re gonna have to elaborate on that.

As fans eagerly anticipated, the confirmation of season 2 arrived even before the release of season 1, much to their delight. While season 3 is also currently in development, it’s still in its early stages compared to the progress of season 2.

Writer Beau DeMayo revealed his significant contribution to season 2, leaving fans disheartened that his involvement concludes there. Recent reports have resurfaced, suggesting that ‘X-Men ’97’ will continue for as many seasons as feasible.
