All ‘Sex and the City’ movies and shows are connected; while the show did come first, the two sequel movies and the latest series serve as a continuation of the character’s lives after the show has ended, while ‘The Carrie Diaries’ serves as somewhat of a prequel to the show itself.

Will there be more ‘Sex and the City’ shows and movies?
The ‘Sex and the City’ franchise will continue, but not through the movies. In 2016, there were rumors that the third movie was canceled; the plot involved Mr. Big dying of a heart attack. This was later reworked into the ‘And Just Like That…’ series, which was confirmed for a third season in August 2023.
