The characters we’ve seen in Oda’s One Piece are truly amazing. They are diverse, they are intriguing, and they are – in most cases – loved by fans. On top of that, they are – generally – very well-written characters whose stories are always fun to explore. And that is what we are going to do in this article. Namely, One Piece fans will know of a big, chunky character who goes by the name Morley of Fur and who has – in a supportive capacity – appeared in several arcs of Oda’s story. In this article, we will introduce the lovable titan to you and tell you whether he is actually a giant in the world of One Piece.

Morley of Fur is a supportive character in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga and anime. He is a West Blue giant and a follower of the newkama system. Ivankov mentioned him as the creator of the Newkama Land in Impel Down. On top of that, Morley of Fur is also known as the commander of the West Army in the Revolutionary Army.

The rest of this article will be about Morley of Fur, his backstory, and his role in the world of Oda’s One Piece series. We will introduce you to his history and current story, how it developed, and tell you where Morley is now and what he is doing in the current arc of the manga. This article will contain some spoilers, so if you’re not fully up-to-date with everything, you have been warned.

Morley has always been a secondary character in the series

Morley was born somewhere in West Blue and has initially lived on Baltigo before moving to Momoiro Island. More than a hundred years before the narrative begins, he became a savage pirate but was captured and locked up in Impel Down. Here he created a space between the fifth and sixth levels of the prison and escaped without anyone knowing.

He gets involved in a certain incident and joins the Revolutionary Army, becoming one of its commanders. While they are on their way to Momoiro to attend an important meeting of the Revolutionary Army, Morley and three other commanders reach the Lulusia Kingdom, which is in a panic due to the Peachbeard Pirates.

The four then take on the attackers and easily defeat them; Belo Betty invites citizens to claim the bounty on Peachbeard and to contact the revolutionaries should they need to. Finally, the commanders leave to reach their destination. Later, he reaches the Red Line together with Sabo, Karasu, and Lindbergh and, under the soil of Mary Geoise, discusses with them how to save Bartholomew Kuma from his current slave situation.

On the fourth day of the Reverie, therefore, the four revolutionaries destroy the Hoof of the Flying Dragon in the residential district, so Ryokugyu and Issho face them. However, they still manage to free Bartholomew Kuma and then flee.

Sabo then separates from the others. When Morley, Karasu, and Lindbergh reach Momoiro bringing Bartholomew Kuma with them, they report that Sabo is still alive, although they don’t know what he actually did after they separated. He thus claims that the boy always makes them worry. At that point, a Den Den Mushi nearby starts ringing, and Koala replies: it’s really about Sabo. During the call, the latter pleads his innocence of Cobra’s murder, so Morley cries with joy, stating that he was sure of it, but when the boy is about to say something on the Empty Throne, the signal is interrupted.

Days later, a revolutionary announces that Sabo is on his way. Morley comes to meet him using his powers and tearfully states that he is dying of anxiety.

Morley is, indeed, a Giant in One Piece

Morley is an extremely hairy and muscular man who is also a giant—a person who belongs to the race of giants, not just a very enormous person—as has been established in the series. He sports a mustache in the Fu Manchu fashion and an ear-to-ear beard. He has a flower tattooed on his left forearm, a short checkered skirt, belts around his arms, dark gloves on his wrists, a dark bowler hat with ruffled spectacles, and an Oshila with weaponry. He also has an Oshila on his head. Belo Betty says he has a “giant potato” face.

Morley speaks in an extremely refined and feminine way for an okama. He typically has a highly positive outlook and dislikes pointless violence. He always wonders if people are paying attention to him because they have fallen in love with him, not knowing that they would otherwise.

He scoffed when Betty jokingly said that the Peachbeard Pirates had fallen in love with him. Therefore, it would appear that he dislikes people being drawn to him. Like many other characters in the series, he has a distinctive laugh: “Fuhahahahaha.” But, Morley is not just an okama; he is actually one of the most famous supporters of the newkama system, developed by Emporio Ivankov. The system itself is an “updated” version of the okama system, whose followers completely disregard gender as a phenomenon and simply act like they want. As Ivankov stated, Morley is responsible for creating Newkama Land on Level 5.5 of Impel Down.

He holds a very important position inside the Revolutionary Army as an executive, and he has led over its men as commander of the Army of the West. Donquixote Doflamingo even mentioned him as one of the Revolutionary Army’s main players. Morley is gigantic, which gives him superior physical prowess and a protracted lifetime compared to people. He can move a lot of ground because of his stature and the strength of his Devil Fruit.

Morley consumed the Paramecia-type Oshi Oshi no Mi, allowing him to treat whatever surface he touched like clay. Since it preserves his natural abilities, he can use this power to move quickly beneath the ground and attack his foes by flinging dirt on top of them. Morley can use both Busoshoku and Kenbunshoku Haki, but in neither case is it clear what level he is at. Morley uses his devil fruit abilities with a huge trident spear he always carries.

Morley is, as you can see, a specific and interesting character. Because the Revolutionary Army will have a bigger role in the final saga, we can probably expect to see more of him in the future. We have confirmed that he is, indeed, a giant and that he is a very specific character due to his personality and his behavior.

But he also has an important role in the Revolutionary Army, which is why we will probably see more of him. As a commander of the Revolutionary Army, Morley is – despite his brief on-screen appearances – an important character, and we do not doubt that you will be interested to see what he has to offer, just like we are. This article briefly introduces the character and his role in the story, but we assume that there is more to come.
