And while the recently-premiered anime adaptation of Hell’s Paradise promises to be a big hit, fans have, naturally, begun to ask questions about the series’ characters, their roles in the story, and their fates. Seeing how Hell’s Paradise is truly one of the season’s biggest hits, we have decided to dedicate yet another article to the wonderful world of this manga and reveal some additional information about one of its characters. The mysterious character in question is Zhu Jin, who killed Tenza and almost killed Gabimaru. In this article, you will discover who Zhu Jin is and what happened to them in the story.

Zhu Jin is a major antagonist in the series and one of the most powerful members of Lord Tensen in Kotaku. They are known as Tathātā Yuanjun, and their elemental attribute is Water. When they first faced him, Shion immediately realized that Zhu Jin was too powerful to fight, although he was not alone. They have enormous strength and complete mastery of their Tao, which is why they were also close to killing Gabimaru in their fight. They are also a commander in Lord Tensen.

The rest of this article will focus on Zhu Jin and their story in the Hell’s Paradise series. Zhu Jin was undoubtedly one of the most intriguing antagonists in the lore, and it only makes sense that the fans want to know what happened to these powerful villains, so we have decided to compose this article. This article will contain some spoilers from the Hell’s Paradise manga, so be careful how you approach it.

Zhu Jin is the first Tensen that Gabimaru faced

Although two members of the Tensen had been shown earlier, Zhu Jin became the first Tensen that Gabimaru actually faced. After finding the village in which Mei and Hōko were living in, Gabimaru and the others found out some intriguing and important details about the Kotaku and its organization; they also found out that the Elixir existed and that they would have to go to the Hōrai to find it.

Even though Hōko predicted that they would all die at the hands of the Tensen, that did not stop Gabimaru from going to the Hōrai alone when everyone else was sleeping. He wanted to fulfill his task alone and return to his wife immediately.

And while this was definitely not a smart move, even Gabimaru was surprised by the power of his new opponent. Namely, on his way to the Hōrai, Gabimaru met a Tensen named Zhu Jin, whose territory Gabimaru entered. Earlier, Zhu Jin had met Tenza and Nurugai and attacked them; they stood no chance against Zhu’s Yang form, and it was only after Shion intervened to help them that they managed to escape.

But Zhu Jin appeared quickly behind them, and another fight broke out in which Shion’s neck was cut, and Tenza was killed. Thanks to Tenza’s sacrifice, Shion and Nurugai managed to escape.

As Zhu returned to the Hōrai, they met Gabimaru, who was right at the gates. As Zhu protected the gates, a fight broke out between Gabimaru and them. Zhu Jin, having had trouble with the humans not long ago, asked Gabimaru to leave, but then the latter realized that the Tensen were using humans to create the Elixir.

He simply did not want to leave, so Zhu Jin was forced to fight. Gabimaru was initially successful and incinerated Zhu Jin, who then transformed into their Yang form. Gabimaru was able to withstand that form as well, to which Zhu Jin wondered whether Gabimaru was human or not.

While analyzing his opponent, Gabimaru managed to overwhelm Zhu’s Yang form, which also stopped the Tensen from regenerating quickly. At that moment, Zhu Jin resorted to their ultimate technique, the Kishikai Transformation, turning into a monstrous plant-like entity that finally managed to overpower Gabimaru. Gabimaru stood no chance against the powerful Kishikai, especially after the monster fired numerous lightning bolts at him.

Gabimaru wanted to set himself on fire and kill Zhu Jin at the same time, willing to sacrifice himself, but at that moment, Mei appeared and saved him. As Zhu Jin reverted back to their normal form after failing to kill Gabimaru and Mei, they wondered what drove Mei to act as she did.

After the encounter with Gabimaru, Zhu Jin was scolded by Ju Fa for failing to kill them, but Rien defended them. Later, after Aza Chōbei was allowed to become a Tensei, he revealed information about the humans. Zhu Jin returned to their temple, the Taisoku Temple, waiting for the humans to arrive so that Lord Tensen could eliminate them as they arrived.

As luck would have it, the humans to entered Zhu Jin’s Taisoku Temple were none other than Shion and Nurugai, whom Zhu Jin had already faced once; they managed to escape thanks to Tenza’s sacrifice, so this was a rematch that both sides actually desired. Zhu Jin wanted to eliminate the two humans that got away, whereas Shion and Nurugai wanted to avenge their fallen friend, Tenza. A battle soon began.

This time, Shion proved to be an exceptional opponent. Knowing more about his enemy, Shion sliced and cut Zhu Jin quickly, draining their Tao reserves as each new regeneration lowered Tensen’s Tao reserves. After cutting Zhu Jin 215 times, the Tensen started to avoid the attacks, but Shion kept attacking, and it seemed like the executioner was about to win. Shion explains that by killing them, he would finally have the chance to mourn Tenza, after which Zhu Jin becomes afraid for their life.

After failing to kill Shion, Zhu Jin manages to recover by combining their Yin and Yang chi, also entering a partial Kishikai state in which they go on to face Shion once again, now with more power than before. Still, Zhu Jin was ultimately unable to defeat Shion and Nurugai, and Shion used his enormous skills to completely destroy the Tensen’s body, leaving only the head; Nurugai stopped Shion from finishing Zhu Jin off, so they left the Tensen to die. But that was a mistake.

Namely, Zhu Jin used the energy they had left and found their way to the Bako, a gigantic Waitanhua flower grown from multiple assimilated Arborifed humans. It was forbidden to assimilate with the Banko, but on the verge of death, Zhu Jin had basically nothing to lose, so they did it and thus created a dangerous monstrosity that threatened the whole island.

The monstrosity ultimately faced Gantetsusai and Jikka but failed to kill them. Still, it was getting increasingly powerful and, with that, more and more dangerous. Ultimately, Aza Chōbei intervened and managed to cut the roots of the monstrosity, thus disabling its regeneration abilities, ultimately leading to the monstrosity’s death and, with it, the death of Zhu Jin.

And this is how the monster was killed and how Zhu Jin died. The story of this Tensen thus ended at this point, and although Gui Fa seemingly achieved their possible rebirth much later, that is not really part of this story.
