‘Heavenly Delusion’: What Happened to Tokio and Her Child?
As fans will know, Heavenly Delusion is a very peculiar manga and anime series. It combines many known elements but still manages to create a uniquely special story that has captured the attention of fans worldwide. Aside from the plot itself, Heavenly Delusion also offers us a series of amazing characters, and in this article, we will talk about one of them and what happened to the character in the final episode of the first season. The character in the spotlight is Tokio. We’ve already told you who Tokio is in the series, but something peculiar happened to her at the end of the first season, and in this article, we are actually going to explain what exactly happened there so you can understand it all.
Tokio gave birth to one child, which was later cloned for the vile purposes of the Academy’s Director. When the Academy was attacked, the children got mixed up, and Sawatari was unsure which baby was the real one and which was the clone. As per Sawatari’s guess, one of them was given to Tokio so she could care for the baby, but the Director then came and wanted to steal the baby. Tokio then activated her powers and enclosed herself in a cocoon-like barrier along with her child.
The rest of this article will be about Tokio and her story in the Heavenly Delusion manga and anime series. We will introduce you to all the facts that are known about the ending of the first season while, at the same time, not revealing too many spoilers from the manga, as the anime series has its own mysterious way of evolving, and we want to respect that. Still, if you’re not completely up-to-date with the events that have happened – so far – in the Heavenly Delusion manga, we have to warn you that the article is going to contain spoilers and that you might find out something you do not want to find out, so be careful.
Tokio protected herself and her child by manifesting her powers
Fans of Heavenly Delusion will know that Takahara Academy is a mysterious and strange place. It is seemingly cut off from the outside world and implies that this is the Heaven the two protagonists seek.
Whether that is true or not is something we won’t be revealing to you at this moment, as it is not our intention to spoil everything to you in this article. We suggest you take up the manga because it is really good and has a great storyline. Now, back to Tokio and her story from the end of Season 1.
Before we actually get into the details, we’ll just quickly recap Tokio’s story. Tokio was introduced as an androgynous girl with short blonde hair and the power to make herself disappear from the radars and the cameras.
She seems to be in the midst of all the important happenings in the Academy, and she likes Kona, so her relationship with him is somewhat in focus, especially in the context of his drawings. She was also very close to Tarao, the boy who died from the unknown illness that everyone at the Academy was afraid of.
In the middle of the season, Tokio uses her powers to visit Kona’s room, and the two of them, as is implied, sleep together without anyone actually noticing any of it. Soon after, Tokio becomes pregnant, which is a shock for everyone and even Tokio, who doesn’t know what is happening with her body. She is isolated from the others for a while until she gives birth to a healthy baby boy who looks exactly like her. But this is when the situation becomes complicated.
First of all, Tokio was not allowed to see her baby, and suddenly, two babies appeared. No, Tokio did not give birth to twins, but one of the babies was actually a clone of what the Director had made for her vile plans; the Director was old, and she wanted to transplant her mind into a younger, healthy body, which is why she managed to turn Tokio giving birth into a good thing for her and the Academy. Okay, for her only, but she made it look like the Academy’s interests were also important there. So, what happened later?
Tokio was, as we’ve said, isolated until the sudden attack on Takahara Academy. Believing that the Director was dead, the others decided to give Tokio her child, but there was also a problem. Namely, during the attacks, the babies fell out of their incubators, and Sawatari did not know which baby was the real one and which was the clone.
He guessed and marked one baby with a circle but did not know which baby it was. A baby was later given to Tokio, and although no one knew if it was the real baby or the clone, Tokio was surprised to see it.
Namely, earlier in the story, while she was exploring the Academy with Kuku, she discovered the secret laboratory with the strange babies, actually Man-Eater (Hiruko) babies, and she thought that that was what a baby looked like; this is why she was surprised to see her baby, a real baby (or a clone of a real baby, at least), looking like her, but she found the baby quite cute.
And just when it seemed that everything would be fine, the Director barged into the room and, in a psychotic state, demanded that Tokio give her the child.
Tokio refused, and suddenly, in order to protect her child, blood vessel- or nerve-like extensions, red in color, started coming out of her and started to wrap themselves around Tokio and the child. The Director tried to steal the baby away, but it was too late, and her hands were trapped with a completely sealed Tokio, who seemed to be in a cocoon-like state, similar to the Hiruko that Maru and Kiruko killed in Usami’s basement.
And while we do know that the Director somehow got out of that predicament, the anime did not reveal Tokio’s fate, and we won’t be spoiling anything here, so if you want to know – just grab the manga. It’s really amazing!
