We know that Takemichi is the protagonist of Tokyo Revengers and that his whole journey through time had the goal of undoing the wrong that the gangs had done. It was also about a lot of other things and a lot of other characters, and in this case, we’re talking about Mikey. Mikey is an exceptionally important character in this series. While some like him and some hate him, no one can deny that he is an exceptionally important figure in the series. In this article, we will explain why Mikey killed all his friends and allies in the Black Dragon Arc, which is one of the hottest topics in the series.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • During the Black Dragon Arc, the so-called “Manila Mikey” iteration of Mikey (Manjiro Sano) killed the Toman executives, including Ken Ryuguji, Takashi Mitsuya, Hakkai Shiba, Chifuyu Matsuno, Haruki Hayashida, Kazutora Hanemiya, and Tetta Kisaki.
  • All the victims were killed by Mikey, who talked about some dark and uncontrollable impulses that drove him to kill all his friends and allies.
  • It later turned out that Mikey did not have any dark impulses or mental diseases but that he was actually cursed when Shinichiro killed the first Time Leaper and that he was simply consumed by the curse, thus becoming darker and darker.

Mikey eventually became a brutal serial murderer

So, we all know who Mikey is, so we won’t be introducing him again. The events we are talking about happened during the Black Dragon Arc when the members of Toman were killed in a very brutal fashion, as follows:

  • Takashi Mitsuya: Takemichi attends his funeral after a leap and realizes that he is dead, and is soon shocked to find out that his death is suspected to be a murder. Takemichi later finds out that he was strangled to death.

Well, as you might assume, based on the content of this article, each of these admins was killed by Mikey, who decided to off his friends and allies. This was an unprecedented move that culminated in Mikey facing off against Takemichi as well, although that part was just a ruse.

Now, many fans misinterpreted this, and everyone talked about the whys, trying to explain why Mikey did what he did. Lucky for you, we actually have an answer, and in the next section of this article, we will explain why Mikey did what he did and tell you why you shouldn’t really hate the boy despite the urge to do so.

As it tuned out, he was never evil, just cursed

Many fans have grown to detest Mikey for his actions, which is how one of the series’ most important characters became one of the series’ most hated characters. Mikey killed people that cannot be denied, and while some fans understood this and tried to explain it, others just jumped up and accused him of being a vile character who cannot and does not deserve to be redeemed.

Initially, it made a lot of sense. We did not have too much data on Mikey. From what we could see back then, he was turning into the series’ main antagonist, with Takemichi constantly trying to make things better and Mikey constantly being the cause of more trouble. And sure, Mikey and Takemichi had become friends by that time, but Mikey seemingly turned on Takemichi as well (although this was just a trick). At one point, when explaining his behavior, Mikey discussed his dark impulses, stating that he was afraid of what he could become. He told us that he was aware of them but could not control them.

Now, most fans rushed to one of two conclusions: one, Mikey is a monster that cannot be redeemed, and he needs to die; two, Mikey is mentally ill, and from that perspective, he cannot be helped and needs to be eliminated somehow. And while these conclusions seemed valid at the time, it turned out that neither evil nor illness caused Mikey to be like that.

Mikey’s Death in Tokyo Revengers, Explained

Namely, as the series later explained, Mikey was cursed. Namely, when Shinichiro killed the original Time Leaper, a curse manifested itself, and Mikey simply became the curse’s target. With time, the curse consumed him more and more, and there was little he could do about it, so he became the monster he had become at one point, which is the whole story behind his behavior. He was never evil; he was never ill. He has always been a misguided boy and a victim of cruel circumstances that drove him to become evil until Takemichi finally managed to make everything good again.
