Jujutsu Kaisen: Aoi Todo’s Boogie Woogie Explained! What Does It Do?
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular series of the modern era, and it makes sense that fans want to know as much as possible about the series and its characters. In this article, we will talk about one of the characters, Aoi Todo, a major supporting character in the series. Todo is powerful and has a special relationship with Yuji, so fans are very interested in him. Todo’s Innate Technique will be the focus of this article, as you will find out all you need to know about Boogie Woogie.
Aoi Todo’s Boogie Woogie is actually his Innate Technique
At Kyoto Metropolitan Curse Technical College, Aoi Todo is a third-year student who stands out among her peers. Tall and robust, he has a lively personality and is constantly seeking opponents deserving of him. He frequently inquires about his friends’ ideal kind of lady, and if his response doesn’t satisfy him, he doesn’t think twice about attacking them. During an invasion of Kyoto, he defeated five Grade 1 and one Special Grade cursed spirit, demonstrating his exceptional strength in hand-to-hand fighting.
Todo is incredibly brilliant despite the appearance of a man who is all muscle and no brains. In fact, he can imagine entire conversations and plans in his head in a hundredth of a second, which makes him an exceptionally dangerous foe. But, while this is certainly interesting, what interests us here is one specific technique – his Innate Technique, which is called Boogie Woogie. We are now going to explain to you what it does.
His Innate Technique is, as we have said, called Boogie Woogie. Boogie Woogie allows Todo to swap the positions of two things by clapping his hands. This can be applied to him, other people, and inanimate objects, which gives Todo a big advantage in battle, even against those who are aware of his powers and can anticipate it; those who do not know about Boogie Woogie will find themselves in a very difficult situation, as Todo’s tactical genius allows him to combine his technique with his other qualities, making him an exceptionally difficult opponent.
He believes that Yuji is his “brother” and has taught Yuji how to control his cursed energy. He helps Yuji fight Mahito during the Shibuya incident, though he loses his arm, preventing him from using his technique again. This confirms that Aoi Todo has to clap his hands in order to use his technique, but he is still able to confuse Mahito during the fight, as he bluffs him into thinking that he can use Boogie Woogie even without his hand.
And that is more or less what we can tell you about Boogie Woogie. We know that Aoi Todo used his technique in two major battles. Against Hanami, his technique was so efficient that it confused the powerful S-Grade cursed spirit, giving the jujutsu sorcerers a significant advantage in that fight, which happened during the Goodwill Event. The second time was the fight above against Mahito in Shibuya, where Todo first used Boogie Woogie to save Itadori, his brother, and then to fight Mahito.
It has to be said that Mahito knew about Todo’s technique, but Todo was still able to overwhelm him; Mahito himself admitted that even though he knew about Todo’s technique, it was still efficient enough to be useful to him in battle. This is how Todo was able to hold his ground against Mahito and how he and Yuji were able to force Mahito into giving it his all. Unfortunately, this fight also cost him one of his arms, which rendered him unable to use Boogie Woogie anymore, but knowing that he can use Black Flash and is still quite strong, the loss of his arm is not going to make him incapable of fighting in the future.
