It’s no secret that Minecraft has a pretty advanced crafting system with a variety of options when it comes to building things and customizing your surroundings. The players have numerous blocks and materials at their disposal when it comes to buildings and the possibilities are nearly limitless. One variety of blocks that are most often discussed are white blocks in Minecraft. In today’s guide, we’re going to analyze what exactly are white blocks in Minecraft and how to produce them.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • White blocks in Minecraft are white concrete Blocks that can be created by mixing white concrete powder and water.
  • The white concrete powder is created at the crafting table by mixing 1x white dye, 4x sand blocks, and 4x gravel Blocks.

How to create White Concrete blocks?

The process of creating White Concrete blocks in Minecraft is pretty simple all you need is a White concrete powder and water, any water source will do, in fact, you can drop white concrete powder outright in the water to create white concrete blocks as is shown in the image below.

Of course, the process of creating white concrete powder is a bit more complicated than the process of creating white concrete blocks.

How to create white concrete powder?

To create white concrete powder in Minecraft, you will need to use a crafting table and prepare 1x white dye, 4x sand blocks, and 4x gravel blocks.

Mixing 1x white dye, 4x sand blocks, and 4x gravel blocks will create 8x white powder. And that’s pretty much it. The process is relatively easy and doesn’t call for any special ingredients. If you’re interested in how to make white dye, we’re going to cover that too! White dye is created at the crafting table using either 1x bone meal or 1x Lilly of the valley.

Of course, white concrete blocks are not the only white blocks in Minecraft, so let’s see what our options are.

Are there white bricks in Minecraft?

Yes, there are white bricks in Minecraft only they’re not made out of cobblestone. A type of decorative block called quartz brick appears sort of whitish in the game. Quartz brick can be crafted at the crafting table using four blocks of quartz. Quartz is a block that is relatively easy to find and can be mined using any pickaxe.

What is the whitest block in Minecraft?

By far the whitest block you can use for building in Minecraft is a white concrete block. We’ve already covered how to create both white concrete block and white concrete powder, and if you tried it already and don’t like the aesthetic look of the block, do not despair. There are numerous other white blocks you can use for building.

A list of white Minecraft blocks used for building

  1. Bone blocks – Bone blocks can be acquired in several ways. You can craft them at the crafting table by combining nine bone meals, or you can come upon them in the wilderness as those blocks naturally spawn in the following biomes: Desert, Swamp, and Nether (Soul Sand Valley
  2. White wool – like the previous bone block, white wool can be acquired in two ways. The first way involves killing sheep, when they die they drop blocks of wool. The other way involves killing spiders, as the strings they drop when they die can be used at a crafting table to craft wool. To craft wool at the table, you need four strings.
  3. Quartz – Quartz is a great alternative to white concrete. Quartz blocks can be crafted at the crafting table by combining 4x nether quartz. Quart blocks can be further chiseled into chiseled quartz blocks, quartz pillars, and quartz bricks, which we already covered. All quartz-based blocks have the same color; only the pattern that appears on the blocks differs.
  4. White stained glass – one more beautiful block that is easily created. To create white stained glass, combine 1x white dye and 8x glass blocks. The process will yield 8x white stained glass blocks.
  5. Snow blocks – snow blocks are a bit more complicated to acquire as they require a special enchantment called Silk Touch. If you use a regular shovel to acquire snow blocks, only snowballs will drop. If you enchant your shovel with a Silk Touch enchantment, you can collect snow blocks from the ground. However, you can use 4x regular snowballs to create one snow block. Mining snow with other tools will not drop anything. Snow can be found in the following biomes: ice spikes, groves, snowy slopes, frozen peaks, and jagged peaks. Unlike regular layered snow, snow blocks will not melt when exposed to higher temperatures.
  6. White terracotta – white terracotta is only technically a “white” block since it appears rather pinkish in-game. But for its name’s sake, I’ve decided to place it on this list. You can get white terracotta by combining 8x terracotta blocks with a single 1x white dye. Badlands biome is the primary source of white terracotta that can be found in nature, but it’s really not a difficult block to craft. If you’re wondering how to get terracotta blocks, those can be smelted in the furnace using 1x clay and 1x charcoal.
  7. End stone bricks – one more decorative block that is only technically white. End stone bricks appear naturally across End cities and can also be created at the crafting table using 4x End blocks. End stone bricks are probably the hardest blocks to acquire or craft as they require access to End Cities.
“White” building blocks in Minecraft

And that would be all; hopefully, you have learned how to make white concrete blocks and white concrete powder in Minecraft. If those are difficult for you to acquire, we’ve included some great alternatives for buildings when it comes to white blocks. Some, like snow blocks, are a great replacement for white blocks, and some, well, some, are only technically white, such as white terracotta bricks.
