Goblin Slayer: Who Is Knight of Diamonds & Why Did He Appear?

GOBLIN SLAYER! is a dark fantasy and adventure light novel series that focuses on a young and inexperienced Priestess who wants to become an adventurer but lands in trouble as goblins wipe out her first party; she is saved by the mysterious Goblin Slayer, a brutal murderer of goblins, whom she then joins as they adventure together. This article won’t focus on any of the protagonists but rather on a specific secondary character with a truly great story in GOBLIN SLAYER!. Knight of Diamonds was a famous Adventurer in the past, but he is still present in the present…

Knight of Diamonds is more of a legend than a true story in the lore of GOBLIN SLAYER!, but we can actually confirm that the character not only existed in the past, but is still alive in the present. In short, you need to know that Knight of Diamonds is a legendary adventurer, and we are now going to reveal more details about his story.

His story actually begins much earlier, when he was a young man and, based on what is known today, we presume, of aristocratic descent. According to what we can infer from the light novel, Knight of Diamonds was a very talented adventurer back then and was a well-known figure in the adventure world—a totally different function than he plays now. Although his rank is unknown, his reputation suggests that he was a very successful and formidable adventurer.

In some ways, he is more than accurate when he says that his time as an adventurer was much simpler. He did not have to worry about the things he was worrying about now, even though the missions were riskier because goblins were a difficult foe. Back before, his only task was to kill goblins; now, he must manage other facets, which is a significantly more complicated task. His primary objective at the time was to eliminate goblin nests, and he was effective in doing so. Also, at the time, he met Sword Maiden for the first time, and the two of them have been friends ever since. This happened roughly 10 years before the current timeline.

In fact, his final appearance was in Goblin Slayer Side Story II: Dai Katana, a side story that saw him save Sword Maiden and Captain. We can infer from that moment that Knight of Diamonds soon retired from being an Adventurer and took on his current role. What role, you might ask? Well, this takes us to the present.

So, Knight of Diamonds disappeared from the timeline, but we can confirm that he is still alive and that he has made an appearance in the present timeline. It is just under a different name. But, who is the then? Well, as we have indicated in the article, Knight of Diamonds is currently known as The King, a character we have already written about here on Fiction Horizon. The King first appeared in Volume 4 of the light novel series, and he played a major role in Volume 8 when his sister – Princess – was kidnapped by the goblins, and the heroes had to go to the Dungeon of the Dead to save her from being executed.

He is much less satisfied with his current tasks as the monarch since he finds them more complex than the ones he had to do while he was an Adventurer. And that is the story of the Knight of Diamonds, now known as The King. He was a legendary figure among the Adventurers and is regarded as one of the best ever, and we have decided to tell you more about this interesting character as well as his connection to The King.
