Fans Concerned About Dave Bautista’s Drastic Weight Loss: “Is it me or Batista is getting small?”
Bautista rose to fame as a professional wrestler known as “Batista.” Joining WWE in 2002, he quickly became one of the most popular wrestlers of his time, earning multiple championships including four World Heavyweight Championships and two WWE Championships with his powerful, muscular persona.
However, it was his role as Drax in the globally renowned Guardians of the Galaxy franchise that catapulted him to worldwide fame and established him as a household name.
After the latest installment of the franchise, Bautista expressed a desire to take on more meaningful and complex roles. His recent performance in Dune: Part Two earned him significant acclaim.
However, several months after his last on-screen appearance, fans were surprised by Bautista’s new physical look, as revealed in a recent backstage photo from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
This has led many fans to speculate about whether something might be wrong with the actor, similar to how they previously questioned if there was an issue with Laz Alonso, the actor who plays Mother’s Milk on The Boys, after he also underwent significant weight loss.
The last comment is accurate, as Bautista previously explained that he slimmed down for his role in Dune. He lost 50 pounds through Brazilian jiu-jitsu after gaining weight for his role in Knock at the Cabin, where he reached 300 pounds.
Comments about Bautista’s age are also valid. The actor recently discussed his potential involvement in the DCU, noting that he had to abandon his dream of playing Bane due to his age. This came after James Gunn invited fans to suggest roles for actors.
And, also, I have to say that I appreciate that because I don’t want to play a character that I can’t bring justice to it. I don’t think at this point in my career that I can bring justice to Bane anymore. I just don’t know if I could handle the physical part, and I don’t think I would have the longevity to plan ahead for films. So, I just don’t know if I’d be that guy.
As you can see, Bautista is not ill or facing any issues; he is simply embracing a natural phase of his life and maintaining a healthy lifestyle accordingly.
