Feige’s Recent Comments Make DC vs. Marvel Crossover Appear More Likely: “We’ve been talking too long”

Crossovers are a staple in superhero media, with some of the most memorable movies in both Marvel and DC’s cinematic universes being built around them. But what if the MCU decided to cross over with the newly-established DCU? While such crossovers have occurred in the comics—sparking strong opinions both for and against them—the situation is more complex in the realm of film.

Feige recently discussed with Collider that conversations about a DC and Marvel crossover have already taken place concerning the MCU and DCU.

MCU boss suggests that we should never rule out the possibility of a crossover. While he admits he doesn’t yet know how it would be done, it’s certainly not something to be dismissed entirely.

I mean, I think about it occasionally, like any fan would think about it. I don’t know when in the heck that would ever happen, or how that would happen. But we’ve been talking too long for me to go, ‘Never! We’d never be able to do that.’ We’ll never say never, but no, no plans.

Feige is right in noting that envisioning such a crossover is challenging, especially given the already complex and bloated nature of the MCU. Adding even more confusion to the mix seems less than ideal. However, it appears that Gunn and Feige have been discussing this crossover for at least a year, around the time Gunn took over at DC Studios, as he revealed to Empire.

I think we have to establish what we’re doing [at DC] first. I would be lying to say that we haven’t discussed it. But all discussions have been very, very light and fun.”

Gunn is also right in pointing out that planning such major events is difficult without any DCU projects released yet. It makes sense that Feige has been discussing this with Gunn rather than Snyder, as Gunn’s vision aligns better with the MCU’s tone compared to Snyder’s darker themes.

For now, fans have a clearer picture: while the crossover is still a distant possibility, it’s not out of the question. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below!
