Scarlet Witch is undeniably one of the most popular characters in the MCU. She started as a villain in the ‘Avengers’ series but eventually joined the team. However, after losing almost everything, she succumbed to her inner demons. Her most recent appearance was in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ where she served as the main antagonist. In a dramatic conclusion, she collapsed an entire castle on herself and destroyed every copy of the Darkhold, making a final, sacrificial act.

Despite this, fans have long speculated that Scarlet Witch might not be dead, given how hard it is to kill one of the MCU’s most powerful characters. With several projects involving characters connected to Wanda in the works, it’s clear that something big is brewing.

In recent months, there have been conflicting reports about the status of her solo movie—some sources suggest it’s rapidly advancing, while others claim it has been quietly shelved. However, Production Weekly now reports that the movie has officially entered development with a familiar team.

The film is slated to begin production in 2026, with Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito as producers, and Jac Schaeffer (‘WandaVision,’ ‘Agatha All Along’) and Megan McDonnell on writing duties. Elizabeth Olsen will reprise her role.

It’s worth noting that Production Weekly isn’t always the most reliable source; many of their production listings have been debunked in the past.

However, this update seems plausible given recent MCU developments. For instance, ‘Agatha All Along’ is set to release soon, featuring Agatha Harkness, who played a significant role in Wanda’s character arc in ‘WandaVision.’

Additionally, Joe Locke will join the MCU as Billy Kaplan, better known as Wiccan in the comics, who is one of the most powerful magic users and Wanda’s reincarnated son.

The upcoming ‘Vision’ TV series, set to release in 2026, will see the return of White Vision and Ultron, with rumors of a Scarlet Witch appearance. Notably, ‘Vision’ will be part of a trilogy alongside ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Agatha All Along,’ suggesting that these shows might converge into a single film to conclude their storylines.
