Marvel Reportedly Has Plans For Two Animated Films Focusing on Power Pack and Kid Kaiju!
2023 was a tough year for Marvel Studios. The start of the Multiverse Saga didn’t get the reaction they hoped for, and A’nt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ underperformed. ‘Secret Invasion,’ a highly anticipated show, was poorly received, despite being based on a popular comic storyline. The only hit was ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3,’ while ‘The Marvels’ became the lowest-grossing Marvel movie ever.
Things somewhat recovered last year with the release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and notably, ‘X-Men ’97.’ ‘X-Men ’97’ became the studio’s highest-rated show yet while ‘Deadpool’ threequel was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2024.
It was exactly that success of ‘X-Men ’97’ that prompted speculations that the Studio will focus on more animated content in the future. Well that and the fact that we have 3 animated shows set for release this year, ‘Marvel Zombies,’ ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,’ and ‘Eyes of Wakanda.’
Now Daniel Richtman notable industry insider reports that the studio is looking into animated movies as well. Marvel is reportedly planning to turn two characters, Power Pack and Kid Kaiju, into animated films. The insider shared this information on his Patreon.
Power Pack is a group of young siblings in Marvel Comics who gain superpowers from an alien named Aelfyre Whitemane. The kids, who are ages 8 to 14, use their powers to protect the Earth from various threats.
Each sibling has a unique ability, and together they form a strong team, often facing challenges while balancing their superhero lives with being kids. Current members are Energizer, Lightspeed, Mass Master, and Zero-G who is also the leader.
Kid Kaiju aka Kei Kawade, is a young boy who loved monsters and gained the ability to summon the monsters he drew after undergoing Terrigenesis and becoming a Nuhuman. As Kei and his family moved around the U.S. to escape the monsters following him, he eventually summoned creatures like Fin Fang Foom to fight against the Leviathon Tide, a global monster invasion.
