Moon Knight has become one of Marvel’s most talked-about heroes ever since his Disney+ debut. Fans loved the first season, and many have been waiting to hear if a second one is on the way. But it looks like that wait might take a while.

When the show first came out, it was planned as a limited series with just one season, like many of Marvel’s early Disney+ shows. Still, fans have kept hoping for more, especially since the ending left the door open for future stories.

A few months ago, director Mohamed Diab, who worked on the series, added fuel to the fire when he said Moon Knight’s journey might not be over. He didn’t confirm anything but said Marvel rarely closes the door for good. He also said he’d love to work on more Moon Knight projects if given the chance.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, a fan asked Oscar Isaac directly if Moon Knight Season 2 was officially happening and brought up all the rumors going around. Isaac was quick to clear things up. He said there is no confirmation for another season right now.

“We’ll see, maybe one day, or in the movie we’ll see him [return],” Isaac said. He made it clear he wants to play the character again, but nothing is happening just yet.

Meanwhile, Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum gave some insight into what’s going on behind the scenes. Speaking about the studio’s current plans, he said Marvel’s approach to TV is changing. Early shows like Moon Knight were created mainly to introduce new characters and connect them to the bigger Marvel Universe.

Now, Marvel wants to treat its series more like actual TV shows that could have multiple seasons, similar to how traditional TV works.

“So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future,” Winderbaum explained. “And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.”

That means Moon Knight will be back eventually, just not necessarily in another season of the Disney+ series. He could appear in a Marvel movie or show up in another project.

For now, there’s no official word on when or where Moon Knight will return, but Marvel clearly isn’t done with him yet.
