The trailer for The Wrong Paris, a new romantic comedy starring Miranda Cosgrove, has just been released. This fun movie will be available to watch on Netflix starting September 12 of this year.

The story follows Dawn, played by Cosgrove, a single woman who signs up for a dating show believing it will take her to Paris, France. But when she arrives, she quickly realizes the show is actually filmed in Paris, Texas. This unexpected twist sets up a lot of funny moments as Dawn tries to either get kicked off or win the prize money, all while her feelings for the bachelor, Trey (played by Pierson Fodé), complicate her plans.

Miranda Cosgrove, who is also an executive producer on the film, told Entertainment Weekly that she loves both romantic comedies and reality TV shows. “I love rom-coms and reality shows,” she said. “I love The Bachelor and Love on the Spectrum. I’ve always loved reality because my friends would always have parties around reality TV, especially The Bachelor. I just think it brings people together and it’s fun.”

She was excited to play Dawn, a character who doesn’t join the dating show looking for love. “It was fun getting to play the character that isn’t really there for love,” Cosgrove explained. “There usually is at least one person who came for the experience and never thought they were actually going to get the guy. It was fun getting to play a character that’s not all about him and just trying to win all the challenges and just focused on making all the money at first. It reminds me of some of the characters on The Bachelor, and when I would watch with my friends, we’d always try to figure out who’s there for love and who’s there for money.”

Dawn’s story is about chasing a dream, she’s from a small town near Paris, Texas, and has always wanted to go to art school in Paris, France. But since she can’t afford the trip, she signs up for the dating show The Honeypot, which promised Paris, France as its location. After a long flight, she and the other contestants are shocked to find themselves just a short drive from her hometown instead.

The film is directed by Janeen Damian and written by Nicole Henrich. The cast also includes Madison Pettis, Torrance Coombs, Frances Fisher, and Yvonne Orji, among others. Production took place in Vancouver and Agassiz, British Columbia, during September and October of 2024.

Fans of romantic comedies and reality shows will likely enjoy this clever and lighthearted take on dating competitions, with Miranda Cosgrove bringing charm and humor to her role.
