Confirmed: A Beloved Marvel Mutant Will Return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Deadpool is finally making his way into Avengers: Doomsday. The Hollywood Reporter first shared the news, and Ryan Reynolds added fuel to the fire when he posted an Avengers logo on social media covered in graffiti, something very much in Deadpool’s style.
According to Heat Vision, Deadpool will be part of the upcoming film, though fans shouldn’t expect him to officially join the Avengers team. Instead, he’ll appear in a different way that ties into the movie’s multiverse storylines.
Avengers: Doomsday is already set to bring back several famous mutants from Fox’s X-Men movies. Names like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Channing Tatum are all connected to the project.
But Deadpool’s place in the story won’t be alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Instead, rumors point to him joining a group called Loki’s Exiles. This team is made up of characters who have interfered with time and space in some way. The rumored roster includes Deadpool and Wolverine, Judge B-15, Sylvie Laufeydottir, Gambit, Captain Carter, and Nomad.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday will be the fifth Avengers movie and the 39th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely are writing the script, and the cast features a huge lineup including Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, David Harbour, Tom Hiddleston, and many others.
The film takes place fourteen months after the events of Thunderbolts. This time, the Avengers will team up with the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, the New Avengers, and the original X-Men to face Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release in theaters in the United States on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU. Its direct sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, will follow on December 17, 2027.
