Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi have stepped into a new chapter of their lives: parenthood. The Stranger Things star revealed on Instagram that the couple has welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, through adoption.
In her post on Thursday morning, Brown shared the joyful news with her fans. “This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” she wrote.
The announcement comes just months after the couple secretly tied the knot in May 2024. Their wedding was kept low-key but special, with Brown’s Stranger Things co-star Matthew Modine officiating the ceremony.
Brown, now 21, and Bongiovi, 23, have been together since 2021, and their relationship has quickly grown into marriage and now parenthood.
The actress has often spoken about her dream of having a family. In a 2024 interview on the Smartless podcast, she shared how becoming a mother had always been part of her plan. “My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19,” she explained while promoting her Netflix film Electric State.
“It’s been my thing since before I met Jake. Since I was a baby, I told my mom, like, baby dolls. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.”
Brown added that adoption had always been something she saw as equally meaningful as having biological children. “My thing was, I really want a family. I really want a big family. I’m one of four. He’s one of four. It is definitely in our future. But, for me, I don’t see having your own child as really any different as in adopting.”
In her Vanity Fair cover story earlier this year, Brown opened up about the deep conversations she and Bongiovi had before getting married. The two didn’t just fall in love, they built a plan for their future.
“We talked about our political views, what kind of family we want to build, the kind of home we want to live in, the kind of relationship we’re looking for, the kind of careers we want,” she said. “It’s such an important decision, and we wanted to make sure we were making the right one. I knew I was. It always felt right with him.”
With the arrival of their daughter, the young couple is now living the future they once talked about. Brown has made it clear that while she continues her acting career, family is at the heart of who she is. For fans who have watched her grow up on screen, this marks a major new step in her life, one she’s dreamed about since childhood.
