Before Timothée Chalamet became one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, he tried his hand at rapping, and it did not go well. Before all the red carpet appearances and award nominations, Chalamet explored a very different side of performance: teenage rap.

While attending Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, Chalamet developed a love for hip-hop. He performed under the name Timmy Tim, taking inspiration from artists like Kid Cudi. According to sources, Chalamet threw himself into the persona with all the enthusiasm of a teenager eager to experiment, though his skills were still in the early stages.

One video that surfaced from this period shows Chalamet rapping about his statistics class.

He recorded it to earn extra credit in school, but it also gave a glimpse into his playful personality and willingness to take risks on stage. “It’s cringy, it’s awkward, but it’s completely him,” a former classmate recalled.

The video highlights a side of Chalamet that contrasts sharply with his polished, image-conscious public persona today. Fans can see the boyish charm and humor that would later endear him to audiences worldwide.

Chalamet’s rap career never took off, and it seems he quietly left it behind as he pursued acting. But the brief stint shows that his love for performance started long before Hollywood noticed him. “He was always trying to put himself out there, even if it was silly,” said the same source.

The actor’s early experiments with music and performance were part of a larger creative curiosity that eventually led him to roles in Call Me by Your Name, Dune, and Wonka.

2026 is shaping up to be quite the year for Chalamet as he will reprise his role as Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Three, which is currently filming, and at the end of this year we can look forward to his role in Marty Supreme.

Even though his Timmy Tim days might make fans wince, they also reveal an important truth about Chalamet: he has always been willing to take risks, to experiment, and to embrace his own quirky creativity. That fearless approach has helped him grow from a high school rapper into one of Hollywood’s most admired young actors.
