Robin Wright, the actress known for Forrest Gump, The Princess Bride, and House of Cards, has left the United States and moved to the United Kingdom.

Speaking with The Times, Wright said she has been living and working in the U.K. for several years and enjoys her new surroundings.

“America is a ****show,” she said, clarifying that her comment was not political and had nothing to do with former President Donald Trump, unlike some other celebrities who have left the country. Wright explained that she loves the slower pace and calm of life in the U.K.

“There’s a freedom of self here. People are so kind. They’re living. They’re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That’s most of America. Everything’s rush, competition and speed,” she said.

The 59-year-old actress also highlighted the quiet in her new home. In California, she would often wake up to construction at her neighbors’ houses. “Everyone’s building a huge house and I’m just done with all that — I love the quiet,” she said.

Now, she wakes up to the sounds of birds and enjoys the peace around her.

Wright is staying busy with her career. She will appear in the Prime Video thriller The Girlfriend and is directing a few episodes.

When asked about working with her former House of Cards co-star Kevin Spacey, who was recently found not guilty of sexual assault, Wright said, “I don’t really think we need to talk about Kevin. That was then.”

On the personal side, Wright said she has “met her person” and is dating Henry Smith, a British-born, Australian-raised architect she met at a country pub. She also plans to take time for herself. “It’s liberating to be done. Be done with searching, looking and getting 60% of what you wanted,” she said.

Wright’s move shows her desire for a calmer, more balanced life, away from the noise and rush of her previous home. She seems to be focusing on personal happiness, peace, and meaningful relationships.

In my opinion, it’s refreshing to see a celebrity make choices for their well-being rather than just their career or public image. It’s a reminder that stepping back and prioritizing personal peace can be powerful. What do you think about Robin Wright’s decision to leave the U.S. and settle in the U.K.?
