Euphoria Season 3 is finally moving forward, with HBO confirming a spring release window, though an exact date has yet to be announced.

The show’s second season aired from January 9 to February 27, 2022, and quickly earned mostly positive reviews. Critics praised the performances and visuals, but some found the pacing uneven and the characterization inconsistent.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Season 2 holds a 78% rating, with the site noting, “As willfully provocative as ever in its second season, Euphoria still isn’t for all tastes—but when its addictive ingredients are mixed just right, the results remain intoxicating.” Metacritic scored it 74 out of 100. IndieWire’s Ben Travers criticized the sexual content but praised Zendaya’s performance, writing, “After seven of the eight episodes, Season 2 is exactly what a drama seeking to spark conversation fears most: It’s skippable.”

The Guardian’s Rebecca Nicholson gave the season two out of five, saying it “leaned into its crueller instincts,” while USA Today’s Patrick Ryan highlighted the cast but noted the show is less engaging when the focus moves away from Rue and Jules.

HBO renewed Euphoria for a third season in February 2022, and CEO Casey Bloys later suggested the series could go beyond four seasons.

Production faced multiple delays. It was initially scheduled to start in late 2023, but the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes and the deaths of Angus Cloud and executive producer Kevin Turen pushed back filming. Production eventually began in February 2025.

The cast has shared their own uncertainty during the delays. Zendaya admitted she didn’t “really have much of an answer” about when filming would start, while co-star Domingo said that creator Sam Levinson had “told me some of it, and it’s going to be groundbreaking.”

Costume designer Heidi Bivens had previously mentioned preparations planned for mid-2023, and Schafer admitted on Call Her Daddy, “The real tea is I have no f-king idea what’s going on” with Season 3 production. Despite these setbacks, HBO confirmed in May 2023 that the third season would air by 2025, and the series is now on track for a spring release.

Fans can expect eight episodes in the new season, continuing the story from where Season 2 left off.
