Hugh Grant has been winning over audiences lately with his sharp humor and playful roles. From romantic comedies in the past to quirky supporting parts now, he has shown that he can switch styles with ease.

But even with all that experience, his first day on the set of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was not smooth at all.

In an interview reported by media outlets, Grant admitted that nerves got the best of him when filming began.

He explained, “I lost my temper with a woman in my eyeline on day one.” He thought she was part of the studio staff and said, “I assumed she was some executive from the studio who should have known better.”

The truth was a lot more awkward. The woman wasn’t an executive at all. She was there as the chaperone for one of the younger cast members.

Grant called the moment awful, adding that there was “a lot of groveling.” He also laughed at himself by saying, “I did a Christian Bale,” referring to the famous on-set meltdown of the Hollywood actor.

Grant has talked before about how big sets and huge productions can put extra pressure on actors. This time, he said the incident taught him to step back, apologize quickly, and not let stress take over.

His castmates have said the set was usually a fun and light place to work, and that shows in the final film. Grant’s performance as a slick con man ended up being one of the most entertaining parts of the movie. The fact that he looked so relaxed on screen makes his rocky first day even more surprising.

The story also highlights something fans seem to like about Grant these days. He doesn’t hide his mistakes. He admits them, makes fun of himself, and moves on. That honesty, mixed with his humor, has become part of his charm.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves went on to be a box office success and showed that Grant could shine in a fantasy adventure just as much as he did in romantic comedies years ago. And now, thanks to his own confession, fans know the movie’s lighthearted magic started with a lesson in humility for its star.
