Cillian Murphy Announces Potential Release Date for ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie
Cillian Murphy has confirmed that the long-awaited Peaky Blinders movie will be released in 2026. The film, titled The Immortal Man, is a continuation of the popular British TV series that ran from 2013 to 2022. Netflix will distribute the movie worldwide.
The film will bring back many familiar faces from the show. Murphy returns as Tommy Shelby, and actors Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck will also reprise their roles. New additions to the cast include Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Jay Lycurgo, and Barry Keoghan.
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight first hinted at a film after the TV series ended. In a 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, Murphy said, “If there’s more story there, I’d love to do it. But it has to be right. Steve Knight wrote 36 hours of television, and we left on such a high. I’m really proud of that last series. So, it would have to feel legitimate and justified to do more.” By December 2023, Knight was finalizing the script, and in March 2024, he confirmed that Murphy would return to play Tommy Shelby.

Filming started on September 30, 2024, at Digbeth Loc Studios in Birmingham and across locations in the West Midlands. Scenes were also shot in St Helens, Merseyside, at the former Pilkington Watson Street works. Production wrapped up on December 13, 2024. The producers of the film include Steven Knight, Caryn Mandabach, Cillian Murphy, and Guy Heeley.
Over the following months, more cast members joined the project. Rebecca Ferguson signed on in July 2024, Barry Keoghan joined in August, and Tim Roth and Jay Lycurgo were confirmed in September. By October, Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck were all confirmed to return.
The movie promises to continue the gritty crime drama and intense character stories that made the original series so popular. With Netflix distributing the film and a strong ensemble cast, fans are eager to see what happens next in the world of Tommy Shelby and the Peaky Blinders gang.
