Netflix’s latest data shows that The Witcher season 4 debuted at number two on the English TV chart, but its viewership has dropped sharply compared to previous seasons. According to Netflix’s press release, the new season gathered 7.4 million views in its first four days.

The season introduces Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, with Ciri (Freya Allan) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) separated across the continent. Laurence Fishburne also joins the cast as Regis.

While 7.4 million views is a solid number, it is significantly lower than earlier seasons. Season 2 opened with 18.5 million views, and season 3 had 15.2 million. Some context helps explain the difference: season 2 launched on a Friday, giving it fewer days to accumulate views, and season 3 was split across two parts, limiting early-week totals.

Season 1 data isn’t available under the current Netflix Top 10 system, but at the time of its 2019 release, it reportedly reached 76 million viewers.

Samba TV also tracked US household viewership and confirmed the decline. Their data shows the first episode of season 4 was watched by 577,000 US households, down 35% from season 3’s 885,000. Even so, season 4 still performed better than the Witcher prequel Blood Origin, which drew 1.3 million US households over its first eight days.

Critically, season 4 is currently the lowest-rated season of the series on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 58% Tomatometer score from 24 reviews and a 20% audience rating from over 1,000 users. Despite the drop in numbers and mixed reviews, Netflix notes that fans are still interested in the story and curious to see where the series goes next.
