The long-awaited trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has finally arrived, giving fans a chilling glimpse at what’s next for the haunted pizza place.

The sequel, produced by Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures, continues the terrifying story based on Scott Cawthon’s hit video game series.

The new movie, directed by Emma Tammi and written by Cawthon, picks up one year after the events of the first film. The story follows Abby Schmidt, played by Piper Rubio, as she sneaks back into Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza to visit her old animatronic friends. What she discovers leads to shocking secrets about the restaurant’s dark past and the true origins of Freddy Fazbear himself.

Josh Hutcherson returns as Mike Schmidt, Abby’s brother and former night guard at Freddy’s. Elizabeth Lail also reprises her role as Vanessa Shelly, a police officer who is the daughter of serial killer William Afton, played once again by Matthew Lillard. Other returning cast members include Piper Rubio, while new additions to the lineup feature Skeet Ulrich, Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, Teo Briones, and Freddy Carter.

The film also introduces a few new voices to the animatronic crew. Kellen Goff voices Toy Freddy, Megan Fox takes on Toy Chica, and Matthew “MatPat” Patrick lends his voice to Toy Bonnie. Patrick, who appeared briefly in the first film, is well-known among fans for his Game Theorists YouTube channel, which often covers Five Nights at Freddy’s lore.

Production for the sequel began in November 2024 and wrapped in February. According to Blumhouse, the movie has been in the works since early 2024, after Josh Hutcherson confirmed in an interview that a sequel was already being planned. Scott Cawthon had hinted years earlier, back in 2018, that a follow-up could happen if the first movie did well , and the box office success of Five Nights at Freddy’s made that a reality.

The newly released trailer teases a darker, more intense tone than the first movie, featuring glimpses of both familiar and new animatronics. Fans were quick to flood social media with reactions, praising the atmosphere and eerie visuals that promise even more scares this time around.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will be released in U.S. theaters on December 5.
