Zendaya Reportedly Snubs Sydney Sweeney: No Joint Interviews or Red Carpet Moments for ‘Euphoria’ Promo Due to “Bitter Feud” – Here’s What Happened
With the third season of Euphoria expected to arrive next year, rumors are spreading that Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney are no longer as close as they once were.
The pair, who became friends while filming the first two seasons of the hit HBO series, are now said to be keeping their distance from each other because of personal and political disagreements.
According to reports, the friendship started to fade after Sydney faced several controversies over the past year. She launched a “bath water soap” product line, appeared in an American Eagle ad that sparked backlash, and drew attention for her support of the Republican party.
As online criticism grew, she chose not to comment publicly, which some fans took as silence over accusations of promoting racist ideas. Zendaya, on the other hand, is said to have quietly stepped away to avoid being linked to the drama.
A source told the Daily Mail, “It’s a difficult position for Zendaya to be in because if she even stands next to Sydney on the red carpet, it can be read as her excusing Sydney’s views on Trump and her refusal to apologize for the racist ad.”
Pop culture investigator Sloan Hooks also told Poprant, “With her career at a peak, Zendaya reportedly doesn’t want off-screen drama spilling into her professional projects.”
The situation escalated further when former President Donald Trump praised Sydney’s American Eagle campaign after learning she was a registered Republican.
When asked how she felt about Trump’s support, Sydney called it “surreal.” Meanwhile, Zendaya has long been open about her dislike of Trump.
The alleged tension didn’t stop there. Fans also speculated that Sydney may have shown interest in Zendaya’s fiancé, Tom Holland.
On TikTok, users pointed out that Sydney’s social media accounts had liked posts about him. An old interview clip from 2022 resurfaced, showing Sydney laughing as she said the Euphoria cast “just need Spider-Man to come in and save the day.” Some fans thought the joke was flirty, while others said it was harmless.
At that time, Sydney was engaged to businessman Jonathan Davino, who she had been dating for several years.
Neither actress has commented publicly on the rumored feud, but the internet hasn’t stopped talking about it. As Euphoria season three approaches, many are curious if the supposed fallout will affect the show’s promotion.
