Pixar and Walt Disney Pictures are bringing back everyone’s favorite toys with Toy Story 5. The first teaser trailer for the film has just dropped, giving fans an early look at Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and Forky as they return for a new adventure.

The movie is being written and directed by Andrew Stanton and produced by Jessica Choi. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, and Tony Hale are all reprising their roles as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and Forky. New cast members joining the story include Anna Faris, Ernie Hudson, Conan O’Brien, and Greta Lee, who voices a new toy named Lilypad.

Toy Story 5 continues the story after Woody left Bonnie to help abandoned toys find new owners. Jessie has taken the lead in Bonnie’s room, with Buzz Lightyear as her second-in-command. Bonnie, now eight years old, has become fascinated with Lilypad, a frog-like tablet toy, setting up a fresh twist for the story.

The idea for a fifth main Toy Story film has been discussed for several years. Tim Allen mentioned his interest in 2019, and while Tom Hanks previously said Toy Story 4 would be the last movie, a fifth film was never completely ruled out. Development was officially confirmed in February 2023, and Stanton was announced as director in June 2024 and later confirmed as the writer. This will be the first main Toy Story film without any involvement from co-creator John Lasseter, who left Pixar in 2018.

Toy Story 5 is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on June 19, 2026. With the teaser trailer now released, fans can start getting excited about the new adventures Woody and the gang will face, as well as the new toy characters joining the mix.
