Takehiro Hira Hints at Character’s Fate: “My Days Are Numbered” in ‘Shogun’ Season 2
Takehiro Hira, known for his role as Ishido Kazunari in the hit series “Shogun,” shared some hints about his character’s fate in the upcoming second season.
Speaking to reporters at the premiere of his new dramedy “Rental Family” at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles, Hira admitted he has only seen one script for Season 2 but believes he has a sense of what’s ahead.
“I can’t really talk about that, but you know, the older characters in ‘Shogun’ loosely follow the actual historical figures. So my guy doesn’t really survive much after the big war, the battle. So my days are numbered,” Hira said.
He added that his character is likely to meet an honorable end, teasing with a smile, “But I could come back as a…” without revealing more.
Hira earned an Emmy nomination last year for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his work on “Shogun.” According to the official logline, Season 2 is set ten years after the events of the first season, promising a new chapter in the story while exploring how the characters have evolved over the decade.
It sounds like Hira’s role may be in serious jeopardy, but the possibility of surprises remains. Fans will have to wait to see if Ishido Kazunari survives the new conflicts or meets his historical fate. What do you think will happen to Hira’s character in Season 2?
