‘Severance’ Star Reportedly Cast in Live-Action Zelda Movie Leaked Footage Confirms
The live-action Legend of Zelda movie is slowly coming together, and fans may have spotted a new cast member.
Reports and set leaks suggest that Dichen Lachman, known for her role in Severance, has joined the project. Sources point to her playing Impa, a key character in the Zelda universe.
The film is directed by Wes Ball, known for the Maze Runner series. He previously said, “It’s going to be made by a fan for fans.” The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on March 26, 2027. In July 2025, the actors for Link and Zelda were revealed: Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link, while Bo Bragason takes on the role of Zelda.
A recent video shared by content creator Tony Olsen shows production happening in New Zealand. In the footage, Lachman can be seen standing next to Bragason’s Zelda. Fans immediately noticed her costume: long gray braided hair, a tunic, a wide belt, and a naginata-style weapon.
These details match many depictions of Impa across the games, especially in Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity, where Impa is a strong guardian to Zelda. Although neither Nintendo nor Sony have officially confirmed Lachman’s role, many viewers are already convinced. One fan wrote, “That’s 100% Impa right?”

If confirmed, Lachman would bring her experience and screen presence to the role, adding depth to the cast alongside Ainsworth and Bragason. Her talent for portraying strong, mysterious characters could make her a perfect fit as Zelda’s protector.
