Andrew Garfield, Nicola Coughlan and Rebecca Ferguson Dazzle in First Trailer for ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’
A new film based on Enid Blyton’s classic The Magic Faraway Tree is on the way, and it’s shaping up to be a big fantasy release for 2026.
The movie is being directed by Ben Gregor and brings the well-known book series into a modern setting. Simon Farnaby, who has been involved with the project for several years, wrote the script.
The story centers on a family that leaves their normal life behind and moves to the quiet British countryside. Once there, they discover a strange tree that leads them into magical worlds filled with unusual characters and surprising adventures. The film aims to mix the charm of Blyton’s original books with themes that reflect today’s kids, including struggles with change and anxiety.
A story cherished for generations… now brought to life on the big screen.

The cast features several well-known names. Claire Foy plays Polly Thompson, while Andrew Garfield appears as Tim Thompson. The younger members of the family are played by Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Billie Gadsdon and Phoenix Laroche. Nicola Coughlan plays Silky, and Nonso Anozie takes on the role of Moonface. The film also includes Jessica Gunning, Dustin Demri-Burns, and more actors joining as the tree’s quirky residents.
Production for the movie took a long path. The adaptation first began several years ago at StudioCanal. When some team members moved on to form Elysian Film Group, the project followed them. In 2024, Elysian partnered with Neal Street Productions to officially push the film forward. That same year, the cast expanded with new announcements, including Rebecca Ferguson, Jennifer Saunders, and others.
