Sherlock Holmes is back, and this time he’s younger, wilder, and a lot more unpredictable. Prime Video has released the first trailer for Young Sherlock, Guy Ritchie’s new series, which takes viewers deep into the chaotic, underground world of Victorian London.

The series promises all the style and action fans have come to expect from Ritchie, but now with a teenage Sherlock Holmes at the center. The show will premiere on March 4, 2026, with all eight episodes available at once on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Hero Fiennes Tiffin stars as Sherlock Holmes, but not the polished detective everyone knows. This version of Sherlock is young, angry, and full of rough edges. He’s inexperienced, emotionally volatile, and has a reputation he’s trying to recover from.

The series explores his early life before the famous Baker Street adventures, showing a boy genius who hasn’t yet learned to control his sharp mind and sharp tongue. The official logline sums it up:

“With all the wit and charm of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes feature films, Young Sherlock follows the origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character’s early days. Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man – raw and unfiltered – when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy that changes his life forever.”

The story begins in the 1870s at Oxford University, where 19-year-old Sherlock is far from the master detective he will become. He is unruly, impatient, and untrained. When a murder at Oxford puts his freedom in danger, he dives into his first real mystery. This case eventually takes him on a dangerous adventure across the globe and sets the stage for the legendary detective he is meant to become.

The cast brings a mix of familiar and fresh faces to the story. Zine Tseng plays Princess Gulun Shou’an, a young Chinese princess who is also a scholar and a martial artist. Joseph Fiennes and Natascha McElhone play Sherlock’s adventurous father, Silas, and his artistic mother, Cordelia.

Colin Firth appears as Sir Bucephalus Hodge, while Dónal Finn takes on the role of James Moriarty, Sherlock’s future nemesis. Max Irons plays Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock’s older brother. The series also features Numan Acar, Ravi Aujla, Holly Cattle, Simon Delaney, Adam James, Rachel Shelley, and Ian Midlane in supporting roles.

Young Sherlock is adapted from Andrew Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes book series, which itself reimagines the classic stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. Guy Ritchie directs, and the series promises the same fast-paced, stylish energy fans loved in his Robert Downey Jr. films, but now with a younger, meaner, and even more chaotic Sherlock.
