Tom Cruise is set to take audiences on a wild ride in the upcoming black comedy film, Digger. Directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, who co-wrote the script with Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris Jr., and Nicolás Giacobone.

The movie features an all-star cast including Cruise, Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke, Burn Gorman, Michael Stuhlbarg, and John Goodman. According to Warner Bros. Pictures, Digger is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on October 2, 2026, with an IMAX release planned.

The film centers on Tom Cruise’s character, Digger Rockwell, described as “the most powerful man in the world” who rushes to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he caused destroys everything. The story promises a mix of chaos, comedy, and catastrophic events, creating what the filmmakers call “a comedy of catastrophic proportions.”

Production for Digger began on November 7, 2024, in the United Kingdom, with acclaimed cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki behind the camera. The movie was shot on 35mm film using VistaVision.

Filming faced a brief interruption in March when John Goodman suffered a minor hip injury, but production wrapped successfully on May 3.
