Kiefer Sutherland Arrested in Hollywood Police Confirm

Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested in Hollywood early Monday morning after allegedly attacking a ride-share driver, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The incident reportedly happened around 12:15 a.m. PST near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue.

The LAPD said Sutherland “entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats.” Thankfully, the driver was not hurt during the altercation.

Sutherland, 59, was released after posting a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 2. The BBC reached out to the actor’s representatives for comment.

Sutherland is widely known for his role as Jack Bauer on Fox’s 24, as well as playing the US president in Designated Survivor. He is also the son of veteran actor Donald Sutherland.

The actor has had several previous run-ins with the law. In 2007, he served 48 days in jail for driving under the influence and violating probation. He faced an assault charge in 2009 that was later dropped, and in 2020 he was arrested for making an illegal U-turn in Hollywood.

In recent years, Sutherland has continued working in film and television. He narrated the Apple TV+ docuseries John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial, released in December 2023, and appeared in Clint Eastwood’s courtroom drama Juror No. 2 in 2024.

This latest arrest adds to Sutherland’s history of legal troubles. It also raises questions about how this will affect his ongoing career.

In 2007, he was charged with drunk driving in Los Angeles, marking his fourth DUI since 1989, and served 48 days in jail after pleading no contest. In 2009, he was arrested in New York for head-butting fashion designer Jack McCollough, but the charges were later dropped after Sutherland issued a public apology.
