‘Super Mario Galaxy’ Movie Trailer Reveals Yoshi and a New Release Date
Nintendo recently pulled back the curtain on its next cinematic venture during a dedicated Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct, offering fans a substantial update on the production and a first look at some iconic faces joining the cast.
The presentation served as the primary source for several major announcements, most notably confirming that the film has officially moved into the post-production phase.
The digital event showcased a new trailer that finally introduces the big screen version of Yoshi. While the character’s inclusion was technically spoiled months ago when a Pillsbury cookie box design leaked his appearance, this trailer marks his first formal debut in motion. Yoshi is not the only veteran of the franchise making an appearance, as the footage also revealed that Birdo will be part of the upcoming space-faring adventure.

In a move that caught many by surprise, the Direct also included a shift in the theatrical rollout. Although previous marketing materials pointed toward an April 3 debut, the studio has moved the release up by two days. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is now scheduled to hit theaters on April 1.
The voice cast remains a star-studded affair, led by Chris Pratt in the role of Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. They are joined by Charlie Day as Luigi and Jack Black as Bowser. New additions and returning voices for this sequel include Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Brie Larson, who will be providing the voice for Rosalina.
