Celebrity Hairstylist Reveals Jaw-Dropping Price Tag for Celeb Hairstyles

Chris Appleton is giving fans a rare look at just how expensive celebrity hair can get. The 42-year-old stylist, known for creating some of the most famous looks in Hollywood, revealed the jaw-dropping cost of his high-end services during a recent appearance on the U Up? podcast with Jordana Abraham and Jared Freid.

“Like 100K, but that was to travel and stuff,” Appleton said. “That was a whole situation.” He explained that while six-figure fees sound shocking, they are exceptions rather than his normal rate. Taxes, agents, and other costs also reduce what he ultimately takes home. “It gets dwindled down,” he added.

Appleton’s client list includes Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, and he has been behind some of the most talked-about hair moments of recent years. From Kim’s icy blonde transformation at the 2024 Met Gala to Kris Jenner’s chic bob, his work has consistently made headlines.

Despite his high-profile career, Appleton is refreshingly honest about his insecurities. He admitted, “We all have that self-doubt. Every job I do, I’m always still a little nervous. I’m always a little anxious still.” This candidness carries through his new memoir, Your Roots Don’t Define You, which released on January 20. The book traces his journey from growing up in England to becoming a celebrity hairstylist in Los Angeles.

During his book tour, which includes appearances on the TODAY show and The Drew Barrymore Show, Appleton shared a personal health scare. While writing the book, he had to undergo an “intense operation” to remove cysts. “What I really wanted to do was own my voice before the possibility of it getting taken away,” he told TODAY, explaining that the experience inspired him to be even more open in his memoir.

Appleton also touches on his 2024 divorce from actor Lukas Gage. “I realize love isn’t enough,” he reflected, emphasizing the importance of personal growth and accountability.

Outside of writing, Appleton continues to work as a creative director for major hair brands and remains a frequent presence on The Kardashians, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at celebrity styling. Rumors also suggest he may develop a reality competition series to find the next big celebrity stylist.
