Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista have teamed up for a new movie that is already a huge hit. Their new action comedy, called The Wrecking Crew, has shot to the very top of the charts on Prime Video. It only took a few days after its release on January 28, 2026, for the film to become the most-watched movie globally on the platform.

According to data from the tracking site FlixPatrol, the movie is currently sitting in first place in several major countries. Fans in the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Italy are among those hitting play on this high-energy flick. It has also reached the top spot in France, Germany, Brazil, Spain, and Poland, showing that people all over the world were ready for this duo.

The story focuses on two estranged half-brothers named Jonny and James. After their father dies under mysterious circumstances, the pair is forced to work together to find out what really happened. Their journey takes them across Hawaii and uncovers a massive conspiracy that puts them both in danger.

While the movie is packed with stunts and explosions, it also focuses on the rocky relationship between the two brothers. Jason Momoa plays Jonny Hale, while Dave Bautista takes on the role of James Hale. The cast is rounded out by other familiar faces like Morena Baccarin, Jacob Batalon, and Temuera Morrison.

Critics have mostly enjoyed the film, giving it a 75 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes so far. Many people are calling it a great throwback to the simple, fun action movies that were popular in the 1980s. CBR mentioned that it is a fun popcorn flick that delivers adrenaline-fueled fun, a buddy cop dynamic, and great performances from Momoa and Bautista.

The review went on to say that while the story is pretty straightforward, it still makes for a comfortable easy-to-stream movie that hearkens back to the simpler action films of the 80s.

Jason Momoa has been incredibly busy lately beyond this streaming success. He recently finished filming the live-action Minecraft movie, where he stars alongside Jack Black. Looking ahead to the rest of 2026, he is set to voice a character in the animated film Animal Friends and will appear in the high-stakes sequel Dune: Part Three.

Dave Bautista is also keeping his schedule full with several big projects. He is expected to provide his voice for the new animated Avatar: The Last Airbender movie coming later this year. He is also working on a new version of Highlander.
