‘Home Alone’ Star Cleared After Prostitution Case Is Suddenly Dismissed
Daniel Stern, best known for his role as Marv in the Home Alone films, has had a p****** solicitation case against him dismissed. Court records in Ventura, California, show that the misdemeanor charge was cleared on Friday.
Stern, 70, was cited on December 10, 2025, after a police sting at a Camarillo hotel, but he was not arrested. He had been charged with a single misdemeanor count of agreeing to engage in p******, which could have carried up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if he had been convicted.
A spokesperson for the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office told TMZ that Stern completed an education class, which is the usual outcome for first-time p****** offenses. “The defendant did what he was supposed to do. He completed his education class and earned a dismissal,” they said.
The actor had recently been cast in the ABC pilot Do You Want Kids? but left the project after the charges were filed. His role as Freddy, the gruff patriarch of the Zilbalodis family, was recast. The single-camera series stars Rachel Bloom and Rory Scovel and explores a couple’s life in two parallel universes—one where they have a baby and one where they do not.
Stern’s career spans decades. Along with his iconic role in Home Alone, he has appeared in City Slickers and was a regular on seasons 4 and 5 of Apple TV’s sci-fi series For All Mankind.
This case shows how a celebrity can face serious public scrutiny even for minor charges, and how the legal system sometimes resolves first-time offenses with education rather than punishment. Stern’s dismissal highlights the importance of due process and following court procedures.
