Matthew Lawrence, the former child star from Boy Meets World, has opened up about a shocking experience in Hollywood that cost him a major role. Lawrence, who also appeared in films like Mrs. Doubtfire and The Hot Chick, revealed on the Brotherly Love Podcast that he lost a potential Marvel role after refusing an inappropriate request from a high-profile director.

“Many times in my life where I’ve been propositioned to get a huge role, I’ve lost my agency because I went to the hotel room – which I can’t believe they would send me to – of a very prominent Oscar award-winning director who showed up in his robe,” Lawrence explained.

He said the director asked him to take off his clothes and posed for Polaroids, promising that if he complied, he would land the Marvel role. Lawrence refused, and he claims his agency fired him for leaving the director’s room. “I didn’t do that, and my agency fired me because I left this director’s room,” he said.

Lawrence also spoke about the lack of support men face when they report s**** misconduct in Hollywood. “A lot of these stories, a lot of my other male friends have gone through with both men and women in this industry, but there’s a double standard, and this is where I bring Terry Crews. Terry Crews comes out and says it; people are laughing at him,” he said.

Crews himself has shared a similar story. In 2016, he reported being groped by a male executive in front of his wife. “‘240 lbs. Black Man Stomps Out Hollywood Honcho’ would be the headline the next day,” Crews wrote, explaining that no one took his assault seriously because of his size and public image.

Lawrence’s revelations highlight a broader pattern in Hollywood. Other male actors, including Brendan Fraser, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, and Drake Bell, have also shared experiences of s**** misconduct. While the #MeToo movement has shed light on abuses in the industry, Lawrence believes much remains unchanged, pointing to the tight circle of executives and high-profile scandals like those involving Jeffrey Epstein and Sean Combs.

This story is a reminder that abuse and coercion in the entertainment industry are not limited by gender. It also underscores how powerful figures can manipulate young talent, often with devastating career consequences.

Lawrence’s account is deeply troubling but sadly not surprising given Hollywood’s history. It is time the industry takes these claims seriously, no matter the victim’s gender. What do you think about Hollywood’s treatment of male actors in #MeToo situations? Share your thoughts in the comments.
