Charli XCX Turns Up the Heat in See-Through Lace Dress at Berlinale Photocall
Charli XCX was the center of attention at the Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday, February 13, as she attended the photocall for her mockumentary, The Moment. The Grammy-winning pop star arrived in a daring lacy sheer dress that left photographers snapping nonstop, cementing her status as one of the festival’s most glamorous and talked-about guests.
The event, held at the iconic Zoo Palast, brought together director Aidan Zamiri and the film’s ensemble cast, including Alexander Skarsgård, Rosanna Arquette, Hailey Benton Gates, Jamie Demetriou, Rachel Sennott, Kate Berlant, Rish Shah, and even Kylie Jenner in a cameo. According to Variety, the press room was packed with journalists eager to hear from Charli about both the movie and her own career.

During the presser, Charli spoke candidly about the emotional toll of her Brat era. “When you release art into the world, and it reaches a wide audience… the work begins to sort of morph and change in its meaning,” she said, explaining how the massive reach of the album made her rethink her relationship with her own art. She continued, “I also think I am quite an emotional and volatile artist, as I think many artists are. And I found elements of that journey quite difficult.”
Charli added that making The Moment was a way to process her experiences in the music industry while exploring the lifespan and impact of her work. “For me, it’s over,” she said about the Brat era, noting that the film allowed her to channel her frustrations into heightened, fictionalized scenarios.
She also joked about going “method” for the role, hinting at some wild real-life moments mirrored in the film. “Have I had a breakdown in the back of a [Mercedes] Viano whilst smoking a million cigarettes? Yes. I definitely had a lot to draw on, let’s say, but… I think I am nicer!”
Director Aidan Zamiri praised Kylie Jenner’s cameo, calling her an “incredible actor” and noting that having real-world cultural touchpoints added authenticity to the film. Charli also expressed admiration for the festival itself, saying she appreciated Berlin’s willingness to showcase films with social and political angles. “Those are the kinds of films that we love. Those are the films that we want to champion ourselves, and I feel like I’m only just starting out,” she told the audience.
The Moment, which premiered internationally at Berlinale after its Sundance debut last month, follows a pop star navigating the pressures of fame. Charli’s insights during the press conference gave fans a glimpse of the personal depth behind her on-stage persona and the creative process that shaped the film.
With Berlinale 2026 running through February 22, Charli XCX has solidified herself not just as a pop icon, but as a thoughtful artist unafraid to confront the challenges of fame and creativity head-on.
