Netflix has released a new trailer for the upcoming film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, giving fans a fresh look at the next chapter of the Shelby story.

The movie continues the journey of Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, who returns after living in exile. The story now moves into the time of World War II, where Tommy is forced to face his past and decide what to do with his legacy.

The trailer also confirms the return of several familiar faces. Fans will again see characters played by Sophie Rundle and Stephen Graham, who appear in new images from the film. The preview also introduces new cast members. Tim Roth appears as a character named Beckett, and Jay Lycurgo joins the story as Elija. They are joined by Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan, while Packy Lee and Ian Peck return as Johnny Dogs and Curly.

The film is directed by Tom Harper and written by series creator Steven Knight. Speaking to RadioTimes, Knight explained how the pandemic changed the original plan for the show’s ending. “The only thing I knew at the beginning was I wanted to take it between the two wars. So I wanted to begin when First World War ends and end when the Second World War begins,” he said.

“COVID had a say in it because season seven had to be scrapped. So instead of ending it at the Second World War, in season seven, we’ve made a film which is out very soon and is fantastic, which takes us up to the Second World War.”

After this movie wraps up Tommy Shelby’s story, the franchise will continue with two new seasons of the show set in 1950s Birmingham and focused on a new generation. The film will arrive in select cinemas on March 6 and will begin streaming on Netflix from March 20.

Turning the planned final season into a movie feels like a smart move. It gives the story a bigger stage and makes the ending feel more special. Fans have waited a long time to see what happens next to Tommy Shelby. What do you think about the movie and the future of the Peaky Blinders world? Share your thoughts in the comments.
