Netflix is gearing up for the return of Running Point with its second season, starring Kate Hudson. According to a Netflix press release, the new season will premiere on April 23. Executive producer Mindy Kaling, along with Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, are behind the show, which mixes sports, comedy, and family drama.

Season two picks up with Hudson’s character, Isla Gordon, now fully in the spotlight as the leader of the Los Angeles Waves. “Isla Gordon is no longer the surprise choice to lead the Los Angeles Waves, she’s the one everyone is watching,” the synopsis reads.

The team is finally recovering from last year’s scandal, and Isla is determined to prove her worth. Meanwhile, her brother Cam, played by Justin Theroux, is quietly plotting to regain his position, turning Isla’s every move into a potential misstep.

The new season promises to show how Isla balances the high-pressure world of professional sports with her personal life. “To survive the family power plays and the scrutiny of the board, she’ll have to rip up last season’s game plan and come up with a whole new playbook if she wants to close out the season on top,” the press release adds.

The cast also includes Drew Tarver, Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, Uche Agada, and of course, Justin Theroux. Fans can also expect appearances from several recurring guest stars, including Ray Romano, Max Greenfield, Jay Ellis, Roberto Sanchez, Jon Glaser, Scott Evans, Rob Huebel, Marissa Reyes, Blake Anderson, Ken Marino, Tommy Dewey, Richa Moorjani, Aliyah Turner, and Jake Picking.

Season two is set to expand the stakes and deepen the family drama that made the first season a hit. Viewers can look forward to more laughs, unexpected twists, and insight into what it takes to manage a modern sports franchise under pressure.

With Hudson back in the lead and a strong ensemble cast supporting her, the new season is shaping up to be a mix of intense boardroom strategies, family conflicts, and comedic moments on and off the court.
