Jamie Lee Curtis is making a bold statement in support of her goddaughter, Maggie Gyllenhaal, by sharing a candid moment from the back of a limousine. The 67-year-old actress recently took to Instagram to post a risqué selfie, flashing her black lingerie while traveling through New York City.
The impromptu photo shoot was more than just a fashion statement; it was a tribute to Gyllenhaal’s latest directorial effort, The Bride!. Curtis praised the film as an audacious, bold, punk, feminist opera of a movie and noted that she was wearing a piece from a Victoria’s Secret partnership tied to the film’s release.
Admitting she was unsure how to best express her pride, Curtis decided that a daring photo was the most effective way to influence the masses. She wrote that since she couldn’t figure out how to show her support, this display of skin was the best she could manage while driving around New York City.
The Oscar winner also linked the look to her own upcoming professional endeavors, specifically her role in the new thriller series Scarpetta. She mentioned that the sultry aesthetic was very Dorothy Farinelli, the character she portrays in the show alongside Nicole Kidman.
This isn’t the first time Curtis has embraced a viral fashion moment lately. She previously made waves for a low-cut jumpsuit she wore as Tess Coleman while filming the sequel Freakier Friday.
The actress has been vocal about her joy in revisiting that iconic character, noting that the attention her costume received only helped to spread the joy that the movie aims to serve. She continues to use her platform to champion both her own projects and the creative successes of her inner circle.
Jamie Lee Curtis has maintained an incredibly high profile following the massive success of Freakier Friday, which hit theaters in August 2025. The sequel saw her reunite with Lindsay Lohan for a story involving merging families and a new body-swapping crisis, grossing over $150 million at the global box office.
Currently, her focus is on the premiere of Scarpetta, which is scheduled to debut on Amazon Prime Video on March 11. Based on the bestselling Patricia Cornwell novels, the series stars Curtis as Dorothy Farinelli, the man-eater sister of Nicole Kidman’s forensic pathologist, Kay Scarpetta.
The show features a prestigious ensemble, including Ariana DeBose as Dorothy’s daughter, Lucy, and Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino. Curtis, who also serves as an executive producer through her company Comet Pictures, has joked that her character is required to look cute at all times, a requirement she playfully claims to hate.
Meanwhile, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! is set to arrive in theaters on March 6. This punk-rock reimagining of the Frankenstein myth stars Jessie Buckley as the Bride and Christian Bale as the Monster, with a cast that also features Penélope Cruz and Peter Sarsgaard.
