The iconic red swimsuits are returning to the small screen, and a new generation is ready to hit the sand. Rising star Jessica Belkin has officially joined the cast of the highly anticipated Baywatch revival, which is set to breathe new life into the legendary franchise on Fox.

In this new iteration, the 23-year-old actress will portray Charlie Vale, a character whose arrival promises to shake up the established order of the lifeguard tower. According to production details, Charlie is the biological daughter of Hobie Buchannon, played by Stephen Amell, representing a child he never knew existed.

The story follows Charlie as she escapes a complicated home life in Galveston to seek out her father with a singular ambition: to prove herself as a worthy addition to the Baywatch team.

Descriptions of her character suggest she is fearless, passionate, and occasionally reckless, embodying the spirit of a true Buchannon legend while still having a lot to learn. The narrative arc of the revival centers on the relationship between the long-lost father and daughter, with the veteran captain serving as the mentor she’s always needed.

This dynamic adds a fresh layer of familial drama to the high-stakes rescue missions the series is known for. Set to premiere during the 2026-2027 broadcast season, the show has received a 12-episode order from Fox.

Fans of the original series will also be pleased to see the return of David Chokachi, who is reprising his role as Cody Madison, though his life has changed since his days as a full-time lifeguard.

In this updated world, Cody now manages The Shoreline, the unofficially official bar-and-grill for the Baywatch crew. While he still occasionally puts on the red trunks for rescue shifts, he primarily serves as a mentor and friend to the new recruits, offering a sense of community—and the occasional plate of wings—to the team.

The production recently held an open casting call on February 18 to fill additional roles, signaling that the search for the next generation of beach heroes is well underway. With the inclusion of legacy characters and new blood, the show aims to capture the nostalgia of the original while appealing to a modern audience.

Jessica Belkin has been steadily building an impressive resume leading up to this breakout role. She recently gained significant attention for her performance as young Margo in the Netflix drama The Hunting Wives, where she showcased her ability to handle complex, character-driven narratives.

Additionally, Belkin is set to appear in the high-profile Prime Video series Elle, which serves as a prequel to the Legally Blonde franchise. In that series, she plays a central role alongside a cast that explores the early life of Elle Woods, further cementing her status as one of Hollywood’s most promising young talents.

The original Baywatch remains one of the most-watched television shows in history, having aired from 1989 to 2001. This revival is expected to lean into the scenic beauty of the California coastline while utilizing modern filming techniques and a more serialized approach to storytelling than its predecessor.

As production gears up for the 12-episode debut, the industry is watching closely to see if the Buchannon legacy can capture lightning in a bottle once again. With a blend of veteran stars and fresh faces like Belkin, the shoreline is looking busier than ever.
