‘The Testaments’ Trailer Unleashes Gilead’s Darkest Teen Rebellion Yet
Hulu has released the first trailer for The Testaments, the highly anticipated sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale. The series continues the story in Gilead, focusing on the next generation of young women coming of age under the oppressive regime. The trailer shows how dangerous life can be for teenagers like Agnes, who was taken from her mother June Osborne and raised in Gilead.
Agnes, now played by Chase Infiniti, is training to become a Gilead wife. She is a “Plum,” a rank in Gilead that indicates her status and future role in society. In the trailer, she reflects on the harsh world around her, saying, “It’s easier to accept a story than believe that the people around you are monsters.” Scenes hint at the violence and strict rules of Gilead, including the public punishments and control enforced by the Wives.
Despite the darkness, the trailer also highlights resistance and hope. Agnes joins her fellow Plums and declares, “We had no idea what we were capable of. It was time for us to change things.”
It's time to leave the dollhouse behind.

The series is adapted from Margaret Atwood’s sequel novel The Testaments and is produced by the same team behind The Handmaid’s Tale. Bruce Miller returns as showrunner, with executive producers including Warren Littlefield and Elisabeth Moss. Ann Dowd reprises her Emmy-winning role as Aunt Lydia, guiding the new characters through the strict Gileadean system. Other cast members include Lucy Halliday, Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Rowan Blanchard, and Zarrin Darnell-Martin.
The show takes place four years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale and is told from the perspective of the young women who have only known life in Gilead. Littlefield told The Hollywood Reporter, “They have never known a world that didn’t have Gilead in it. So it’s not all ugly. The school that educates these young women is Lydia’s school. We proudly embrace Ann Dowd to carry us forward, and she is a very important rudder from one universe into the next.”
The official logline explains the series follows Agnes and a new character, Daisy, as they navigate Aunt Lydia’s elite school for future wives. Their friendship becomes a catalyst that could upend their past, present, and future.
The Testaments premieres April 8 on Hulu with three episodes, with new episodes rolling out weekly. It will also be available on Hulu via Disney+ bundles.
