Arnold Schwarzenegger Teases Sequels to Several of His Most Iconic Franchises
Arnold Schwarzenegger is gearing up to revisit some of the movies that made him a household name. The action legend revealed that he is in talks to return to the Predator franchise, as well as star in sequels to Commando and Conan the Barbarian.
Speaking at the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio, Schwarzenegger shared updates on the projects. He told fans that 20th Century Studios has approached him for a new Predator film with director Dan Trachtenberg. “They did an additional Predator and the director has been doing a great job of that. Now, he wants me to be in the next Predator. We’ve talked about it,” TheArnoldFans reported.
The star also confirmed that scripts are being developed for Commando 2 and a King Conan movie. Regarding the Conan sequel, he revealed that Christopher McQuarrie, known for his work on Mission Impossible, will write and direct the film. “It’s going to be an age-appropriate role, but I’ll still go in there and kick some ass,” Schwarzenegger said.
He gave fans a glimpse of the story for King Conan. “It’s a great old story that Conan was 40 years as King and now he gets forced out of the kingdom and there’s conflict, of course, but somehow he comes back and there’s all kinds of madness, violence, magic and creatures and stuff like that,” he explained, referencing the original Robert E. Howard books.
While Schwarzenegger is best known for The Terminator series, he said he is done with that franchise. Instead, he is excited to return to the worlds of Predator, Commando, and Conan, which were cornerstones of his career in the 1980s.
Fans of the action star have plenty to look forward to, as these new projects promise to bring back some of the classic thrills that made Schwarzenegger an icon.
