First Look at Epic New Characters in ‘Dune: Part 3’ Revealed as First Trailer Release Date is Confirmed
Exciting new details have emerged for Dune: Part 3, giving fans their first real look at the characters and the story direction. According to Evolve, the teaser trailer is set to premiere tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET.
The studio has also released a series of character posters showing returning stars like Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, and Isaach de Bankolé as Bashar of the Ninth Legion Farok. These posters reveal both old and new faces and hint at the film’s dramatic tone.
Chalamet gave fans a first glimpse of his character Paul Atreides with a photo showing facial scarring and a mask covering his mouth. Warner Bros. has scheduled the release for December 18, where it will compete with Avengers: Doomsday at the box office. The story reportedly jumps more than 10 years ahead after the events of Dune: Part Two.

In the last movie, Paul joined the Fremen, developed a relationship with Chani, and defeated the Harkonnens. Part Two ended with him taking power and launching a holy war against the Great Houses.

Director Denis Villeneuve, who returns to helm the final installment, said, “Like Herbert did with Dune: Messiah, I think it’ll be a great idea to do something completely different. The story takes place 12 years after where we left the characters at the end of Part Two.” Chalamet added, “It was for a film, for ‘Dune: Part Three,’ and there’s supposed to be a nice character shift” .
Filming for Dune: Part Three began in July 2025 and wrapped in November. The story is based on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah, which follows Paul Atreides, now known as Muad’Dib, as he navigates power, politics, and prophecy in a changed universe.
The first look at these characters already gives the film a darker, more intense vibe than the previous installments.
