Disney+ Unveils New Look at ‘Hannah Montana’ 20th Anniversary Special
Disney+ is gearing up to celebrate a huge milestone for one of its most iconic shows. The streaming service has released the first trailer for the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, which will premiere on March 24. The special gives fans a closer look at Miley Cyrus’s journey as Hannah Montana and the lasting impact the character has had on pop culture.
The celebration features an in-depth interview between Cyrus and podcast host Alex Cooper. Fans will see behind-the-scenes footage, never-before-seen clips from the original series, and recreated sets like the Stewart family living room and the famous Hannah Montana closet. According to Disney+, there are also a few surprises sprinkled in for longtime viewers.
Cyrus shared a heartfelt note to her on-screen alter ego ahead of the anniversary. “You have all my love and upmost gratitude. Breathing life into you for those 6 years was an honor,” she wrote on Instagram.
She reflected on her early days filming the show, the friendships she made with her co-stars, and the life-changing experiences she had while bringing Hannah Montana to life. “You + I have been through it all together my friend. We’ve shared many firsts. A lot of lasts. Ups. Downs. Tears + laughs,” she added.
The special is produced by HopeTown Entertainment and Unwell Productions, with Ashley Edens as showrunner. Cyrus, her mother Tish Cyrus-Purcell, Alex Cooper, and Matt Kaplan are executive producers. Cooper will also host the special, guiding fans through the celebration of Hannah Montana’s legacy.
