Brooks Nader is embracing her transition into a television icon with poise, even as she navigates the scrutiny that comes with reviving a global phenomenon. Recently announced as a lead in the highly anticipated Baywatch reboot on FOX, the model has encountered a wave of digital skepticism regarding her jump from social media and modeling into a scripted drama.

However, she remains remarkably unperturbed by the criticism, viewing her career path as a reflection of the modern entertainment landscape. In a candid discussion about the pushback, Nader highlighted that the definition of a Hollywood talent has fundamentally shifted since the original series aired.

She explained to The Daily Mail on March 24 that the industry is no longer confined to rigid categories, allowing individuals to successfully bridge multiple worlds at once. “I think the times are different and everyone is so multi-hyphenate now, and you can be both an actor and an influencer and have influence,” she remarked, championing the versatility of today’s creators.

The actress attributed this shift to the rise of digital platforms, noting that the stars of the 1990s lacked the direct line of communication that defines current fame. “We now have platforms. During the 90s, you didn’t have social media, you didn’t have Instagram or TikTok, and so people could use their voice now, and I think as long as they’re using it for good… I think that it’ll bring a vibe to the show,” she stated.

By being able to curate their own narratives, Nader believes this new generation of actors brings a unique energy to traditional formats. Nader expressed immense pride in the project’s ensemble, which she believes will offer a fresh take on the sun-soaked legacy while honoring its roots.

She noted that the cast is packed with a wide range of voices and talents that will only serve to strengthen the reboot’s appeal. “Baywatch was such an iconic series, and we have such a stacked cast of amazing talent. And so I know everyone’s gonna love it. It’s amazing,” she concluded, reinforcing her excitement for the upcoming 2026–2027 season.

In the new series, Nader takes on the role of Selene, the assertive and “sharp-tongued” captain of the Zuma Beach lifeguards. Her character is set to be a major source of tension for the show’s lead, Hobie Buchannon, played by Stephen Amell, as they clash over their conflicting methods for beach safety.

Filming for the show is currently in full swing at Venice Beach and on the Fox lot, with Nader recently spotted in the legendary red swimsuit alongside co-stars like Noah Beck and Shay Mitchell.

She also recently made headlines for her return as an “SI Legend” in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, featuring a high-fashion shoot in Baja California Sur. Between her reality television success, her modeling legacy, and her new dramatic lead, she is rapidly solidifying her status as a major multi-media force.

As production continues throughout the spring, Nader’s performance as Selene is already being positioned as one of the most anticipated television debuts of the year.
