Kim Kardashian (45) and Kris Jenner Accused of Perjury by Ray J (45) in Explosive *** Tape Battle
Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner are once again at the center of a legal storm over the 2007 *** tape that launched the Kardashian family into global fame. The drama escalated this week as both women filed sworn statements in Los Angeles Superior Court denying that they had planned the tape’s release. Ray J, the singer who starred in the tape, fired back, accusing them of lying under oath.
According to court documents, Kardashian called the claims that she and her mother released the footage as a publicity stunt “a lie.” Jenner added that any suggestion she oversaw its “commercial exploitation” is “absolutely false.” She said she was “heartbroken and devastated as a mother” when the tape went public.
Ray J, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr., disputed their statements to TMZ. He said he personally attended meetings with Kardashian, Jenner, and executives from Vivid Entertainment to negotiate deals for three separate tapes.
He also alleged that Jenner encouraged one of the recordings to be more explicit. His attorney, Howard King, called the Kardashians’ denials “demonstrably false” and warned that lying under oath could lead to criminal perjury charges, especially noting Kim’s recent goal of passing the bar exam.
The conflict is tied to a defamation lawsuit Kardashian and Jenner filed against Ray J last October after he compared the family to racketeers during coverage of the Sean Combs trial. Ray J countersued, claiming the pair violated a 2023 settlement that prohibited anyone involved from discussing the tape publicly.
TMZ obtained a copy of the agreement, which was signed by Kardashian, Jenner, Ray J, and his mother Sonja Norwood. The deal reportedly included a $6 million payment to Ray J and penalties for breaking the terms.
Ray J claims the Kardashians broke the agreement when they discussed the tape on their Hulu reality show just one month after signing it. The legal battle continues to draw attention as both sides prepare for court rulings.
This case shows how past controversies can continue to affect high-profile families years later. The claims and counterclaims highlight the tension between privacy, fame, and the media’s spotlight. It also raises questions about legal agreements and whether public figures can truly control their own narratives.
This case will keep making headlines because it combines celebrity drama with serious legal stakes. What do you think, are the Kardashians in the right, or is Ray J justified in his claims? Share your thoughts in the comments.
