Stephen Amell (44) Goes Shirtless and Dives in for Action-Packed ‘Baywatch’ Scene
Stephen Amell is getting into his new role on the set of the Baywatch reimagining. The 44-year-old actor was seen performing high-altitude leaps into the ocean during a rescue sequence filmed this Tuesday, March 31, in Redondo Beach.
Joining him for the high-stakes scene were castmates Shay Mitchell, Jessica Belkin, and Thaddeus LaGrone, as the team worked together to save a young girl from the surf. The production recently faced a minor scare when LaGrone sustained a leg injury during a stunt on Monday.
The actor was spotted with a bandage around his shin following a visit to the emergency room to ensure the wound was properly treated. Despite the mishap, a source from the production confirmed that “LaGrone was OK and the incident did not interrupt the rest of the filming for the show.”
The updated series offers a fresh take on the classic franchise, centering on a grown-up Hobie Buchannon, played by Amell. Once the spirited child of the original show, Hobie has risen to the rank of captain, following the path set by his iconic father, Mitch.
His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Charlie, a daughter he never knew he had, who arrives with dreams of joining the elite lifesaving squad. Supporting the new generation is the legendary Cody Madison, who now manages the local hangout, The Shoreline.
While he spends most of his time at the bar and grill, he still occasionally dons his famous red trunks to assist in difficult rescues. The synopsis notes that Cody serves as a vital mentor, ensuring his friends have a home base and “always offering free wings after a big save.”
Amell has been incredibly prolific lately, having recently starred in the high-octane sequel Code 8: Part II and the legal drama Suits: LA, which debuted last year. He also recently starred in the second season of the wrestling drama Heels.
The Baywatch reboot, which began principal photography in mid-March, is slated to premiere as part of the 2026-2027 television season on FOX. The series is being guided by showrunner Matt Nix, who has praised Amell’s ability to balance intense action with genuine emotional depth.
With a cast that includes social media stars like Noah Beck and Livvy Dunne alongside seasoned actors, the show is one of the most talked-about projects of the year.
