‘The Rings of Power’ Season 3 Will Arrive Sooner Than Expected As Amazon Sets Release

Fans of Middle-earth have a positive update about The Rings of Power, as the next season is now expected to arrive earlier than many people thought.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, some earlier rumors suggested that season three would not come until 2027. However, a source close to the production says the release will happen sooner, with a launch expected later this year.

The series remains one of Prime Video’s biggest productions, drawing a massive global audience and helping boost subscriptions for the platform. It continues to be a major part of Amazon’s streaming lineup.

Season three will move the story forward with a noticeable time jump. It picks up several years after the events of the previous season and takes place during a major conflict in Middle-earth. The focus is on the War between the Elves and Sauron, as Sauron pushes forward with his plan to create the One Ring and gain full control.

This timeline also connects to events that happen before the well-known stories seen in the earlier Lord of the Rings films. The show continues to build toward that larger history.

The cast is expected to return with familiar characters, including Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, and Robert Aramayo as Elrond. New additions to the cast include Jamie Campbell Bower and Eddie Marsan, along with other actors whose roles have not yet been revealed.

The showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay have already teased that work on the new season is moving forward. They previously said, “We’re working on it. We’re cooking. Let us cook!”
